Q&A's

Questions and Answers
Is my company too small to use your services?

Probably not. We have looked after start-ups who plan to grow and want to run a compliant company with happy engaged staff from the outset, through to companies of up to one thousand heads.

We are opening offices abroad, can you help in this?

Yes. Not only can we help with your HR requirements, we can benchmark the salaries and benefits for the employees you will be recruiting. We can put in place benefits strategies and liaise with the providers on your behalf, we can even run your payroll.

We are an international company opening a branch in the UK.
Do you have experience of this?

Yes, we have plenty and can help you to manage the opening of the new office, perhaps by preparing contracts and letters of engagement, liaising with the office manager here on the ground to cover off Health and Safety and other concerns, implement Keyman cover and other insurances and generally hold your hand through this phase.

How can I make my employees more appreciative of their benefits?

In our opinion the key is engagement. Unless your employee are appreciative there is no return on your investment in them. We hold regular meetings with employees regarding their benefits. We also provide 1-2-1 consultancy on a free of cost basis for each employee giving them a chance to hear an impartial voice and to discuss both employee benefit issues as well as others which are not (e.g. wills). Through having a non connected person extolling the virtues of the benefits the employees gain a greater understanding of them and a wider appreciation of their worth.

Is my company too small for flex?

The smallest company for whom we have implemented a full flex scheme is 3.

Do we have to use all of your services?

No, not at all. Many of our existing clients have taken all of the service package, but it up to you to choose to use some parts, but not others. As an example, in many small companies we provide a bespoke “in-sourced” HR service, but nothing else. In some we provide Financial Education, or perhaps Payroll. You decide what fits for your organisation.

Can you help with the Company handbook?

Yes, of course. We can bring your Handbook up to date, help with harmonisation, or simply ensure it is compliant.

Can you help with training?

We provide full training for In-House HR team and individuals on how to use Flex, the appraisal system and any other relevant package that we implement.
In addition to this we will ensure that your employees are full aware of every element of the benefits package through providing seminars, followed up by 1-2-1 personal sessions.

Why, as an employer, should I get involved in educating my people on their financial planning. Isn’t that a private matter?

In our opinion there are a number of benefits to be derived by you by providing Financial Education:
It is likely that you are making a considerable investment into providing Employee Benefits. Unless your people value those benefits they are unlikely to feel “grateful” for them. In that situation, you are quite simply wasting your money.
There are many reasons why your people might not be being productive at work. They may have financial or other worries, they might simply spend a long time surfing for answers to simple financial questions, they might be surfing for a good savings rate or mortgage deal. In all of these examples you are not gaining the value of the salary you pay.
Providing Financial Education is a cost-free benefit. At Q&A People Matter we have consultants who will happily add value to your people both on the telephone and face-to-face. Financial illiteracy is rife. Having a friendly person on-hand who is able to answer questions in real-time is invaluable. In addition, we are happy to provide seminars on a regular basis for your people perhaps in areas such as “How do I plan for future property purchase?” “Budgeting”, “Should I have a will?” and many others.
We provide the service and advice. You reap the glory for having helped your people get better informed, and wealthier.

We already use an out-sourced HR function. How does your service differ?

We never refer to our service as “out-sourced” We work with the Company. We get our hands dirty. We do not simply send out template responses. As business owners we recognise and can empathise with the concerns and difficulties facing employers on the HR front. We will add to your overall asset-base, either as an extra pair of hands for the HR team or even as “The Team” itself.
